Saturday is rest day!

Saturday morning is my favourite morning, because I do not have to get up and rush!!! The peace of being able to lay in and rest until 9am.

The children were up earlier, so I knew that the cats were ok, so I kept my door firmly shut. At 9am, I opened it, up, pulled back the curtains ( this is necessary, otherwise Fluffy will scale them in seconds, and hang onto them until they completely detatch themselves from the curtain rail.........), and then retired back under the duvet.

This is the cue for the cats to disrupt any possible future hope of sleeping. Lily does not join in the frolics at this point, being 6 weeks pregnant, she likes to observe from a safe distance. All four of the others, make their way under the duvet. I have a slim wish, that they may just snuggle up, imitating nice cuddly hot water bottles. This wish is not to be fulfilled, as they decide that under the duvet is just the right place to have a scrap. So the next hour is spent, evicting quarelling cats, who keep bounding back like a rubber band. Playing either under the duvet or on top of the duvet. I did try to pin the sides of the duvet down, so that they could not get in, but they are cleverer and more determined than me.

EVENTUALLY they settle down, and I start to shut my eyes. Cue Richard and Timothy to come in........."hello mummy, you're awake", well I am now!!!

Children play with cats, cats wake up, mummy wakes up, and the games start all over again.

So it is out of bed, feed cats and the normal morning routine commences.

They are all asleep now, alas, I am not.

I am posting a photo, of one of the kittens from Lil's first litter, 2 years ago. His name was Smeagle, and he had a HUGE personality! He was greatly missed when he left us, but greatly loved by his new mummy,
